It looks like Newcastle are on the hunt for a young talent, alongside a number of other Premier League clubs.
Baylee Dipepa, currently at Port Vale has had a breakout season in League One and is now starting to attract the attention of top clubs.
According to NUFCBLOG, Newcastle are ready to offer a six-figure sum to avoid going to tribunal (due to him being under a youth contract). The deal could see Newcastle jump ahead of Manchester United, Dortmund, and West Ham who are all interested in the young striker.
Dipepa would be joining a number of England u17 teammates if he were to link up with Newcastle. Recent callups for Leo Shahar and Trevan Sanusi would add more England youth talent to the Newcastle setup. And, as we saw in Australia, Newcastle need to add depth and talent to their youth ranks.
Baylee Dipepa could be given a path to the first team
Dipepa also has recent form, scoring in the 4-0 win over France u17s, a game in which Toon star Shahar secured an assist.
Newcastle will look to use his England U17 colleagues as a way to show Dipepa his clear path to the top. With Newcastle United’s u21 gametime being a key component in any deal to tempt the youngster to Tyneside.
Liam Brazier, another Port Vale player is also being watched by NewcastleUnited. Which would add another former Port Vale player to Newcastle after the club secured a deal for Michael Mills in August.
It is expected that Newcastle United will add a number of 16 to 18-year-olds to the academy this Summer. The club needs to bolster their youth ranks after the academy was neglected for over a decade under former owner Mike Ashley.
The goal with these players will be clear. Get them into the U21 squad and let them prove their worth.
