With Newcastle still pursuing Marc Guehi – or another right-footed centre-back if we walk away – and a new right winger, North East reporter Mark Douglas has issued an intriguing transfer update.
According to his latest piece, a club insider has told iNews that it’s set to be a “frantic” final two weeks of the summer transfer window for both incomings and outgoings.
With the window finally getting going for Newcastle, it looks like we’re pushing for two first-team signings and will also turn our attention to player sales. We looked at the job Paul Mitchell had ahead of him last week, and it looks like he’s set for a busy two weeks.
The report suggests Newcastle will brace for bids for a number of star players, with Miguel Almiron and Kieran Trippier being the two most notable of the group.
Almiron was subject to interest from MLS side Charlotte FC this week, and while the deal was verbally agreed Almiron and his team pulled out over wage demands.
Both he and Trippier have also received interest from Saudi Arabia, but it remains to be seen if they’d accept a move to the Middle East, with Howe also considering both to be important senior players.
